In the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, the state of Chhattisgarh is executing an array of schemes designed to augment farmer’s incomes and integrate them into viable alternative livelihoods. Consonant with this vision, the National Horticulture Mission, alongside state programs, is vigorously promoting apiculture. In Jashpur district, financial assistance is being extended to 20 farmers under this initiative.
Subsidies are provided for critical apicultural infrastructure: Rupees1,600 for bee boxes (B boxes) and colonies, Rupees 800 for beehives, and Rupees 8,000 for honey extraction apparatus. Such support empowers farmers to derive supplementary revenue with negligible initial outlay. The National Horticulture Mission thus provides pivotal incentives, enhancing income and employment prospects.
Apis mellifera extends beyond honey production to fulfill an indispensable function in pollination, thereby substantially elevating yields across diverse crops. Notable increments in output are observed in mustard, mango, litchi, guava, sunflower, coriander, and an assortment of vegetable crops, rendering agriculture both more remunerative and enduring.
Apiculture has emerged as a potent instrument for self employment, particularly for rural youth and women. Armed with requisite training, individuals can expeditiously commence operations. The robust market demand for honey, beeswax, and royal jelly fosters sustainable revenue generation.
Bees are instrumental in sustaining biodiversity. Authorities caution that the indiscriminate application of pesticides is precipitating a decline in bee populations, constituting a profound ecological peril. It is imperative, therefore, to advocate bee compatible agricultural practices.
Apiculture exemplifies a paradigm of low investment yielding high dividends. A solitary bee box can facilitate recurrent honey harvests annually. Employment of scientific methodologies, meticulous management, and judicious seasonal oversight enables farmers to attain optimal productivity and enhanced profitability.
This endeavor not only elevates farmer’s earnings but also fortifies the rural economy and upholds ecological harmony.
