Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav lauded the inauguration of Hotel Amaltas, the first hotel in the state to be entirely managed and operated by women. Speaking at the event in Pachmarhi, CM Yadav called this initiative a proud moment for Madhya Pradesh, showcasing the state’s commitment to women’s empowerment. He expressed confidence that this innovative model would inspire similar efforts across the country.
Empowering Women Through Hospitality
Highlighting India’s cultural ethos, Dr. Yadav remarked, “Our nation has always revered women, with traditions deeply rooted in recognizing their significance. From ‘Vasundhara’ (Mother Earth) to the invocation of deities such as ‘Sita-Ram’ and ‘Radha-Krishna,’ women hold a sacred and primary position in our lives and spirituality. Hotel Amaltas exemplifies this spirit by empowering women to lead and succeed in the hospitality sector.”
The Chief Minister inaugurated the hotel by pressing a remote button and interacted with the team of 23 women employees, who have been trained to handle all operations, from management and housekeeping to kitchen and security. As a gesture of encouragement, Dr. Yadav presented them with tokens of appreciation.
Security guard Mala Chaudhary, representing the staff, thanked the Chief Minister for the initiative, which provided women with both training and employment, enabling them to gain independence and confidence.
Pachmarhi: A Paradise in the Heart of India
Dr. Yadav praised Pachmarhi’s serene beauty, comparing it to the scenic vistas of the Himalayas and Switzerland. He noted that the state’s concerted efforts have significantly boosted tourism, with over 11 crore visitors arriving in Madhya Pradesh this year. He attributed this success to the state’s diverse attractions, including religious, historical, and wildlife tourism.
The Chief Minister also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for choosing Madhya Pradesh as the site for the Cheetah Reintroduction Project, a monumental step in wildlife conservation. Reflecting on this, he stated, “These cheetahs are a testament to our courage and determination. Our state is rich not only in natural resources but also in human capital, which has elevated Madhya Pradesh’s reputation across all fields.”
Hotel Amaltas: A Women-Centric Initiative
Tourism Minister Dharmendra Bhav Singh Lodhi highlighted the significance of Hotel Amaltas as part of the state’s broader push toward women’s empowerment.
- Staffing: All roles, including management, housekeeping, reception, culinary services, landscaping, and security, are handled by women.
- Training: 23 local women were professionally trained for these responsibilities, setting a precedent for inclusive employment practices in the hospitality sector.
Luxury Tourism Expansion in Pachmarhi
Alongside Hotel Amaltas, the state government has also renovated Hotel Neelambar Skyline to cater to high-end tourists.
- Features: The revamped hotel boasts 16 luxury rooms, an infinity pool, modern attached bathrooms, premium furnishings, energy-efficient systems, and landscaped gardens.
- Viewpoint: A dedicated viewpoint offers breathtaking views of Pachmarhi’s hills, enhancing the overall visitor experience.
Tourism and Skill Development for Women
Principal Secretary of Tourism and Culture, Shiv Shekhar Shukla, outlined the government’s initiatives for empowering women through tourism:
- Skill Development: Under the Safe Tourism Sites for Women Project, 40,000 women are receiving self-defense training, and 10,000 women are being trained in tourism and hospitality skills.
- Inclusivity: The government is also training people with disabilities for future ventures, including hotels exclusively run by differently-abled individuals.
Cultural Performances and Recognition
The inauguration also featured a short film showcasing the achievements of the Safe Tourism Sites for Women Project, followed by a vibrant Bundeli folk dance dedicated to Goddess Durga. Local dignitaries, including MP Darshan Singh Chaudhary, MLA Thakur Das Nagvanshi, and tourism officials like Dr. Ilaiyaraja T., graced the occasion, reflecting widespread support for this groundbreaking initiative.
With Hotel Amaltas, Madhya Pradesh sets a shining example of integrating women’s empowerment with sustainable tourism development, reaffirming its commitment to creating an inclusive and progressive society.
