MCB, December 4, 2024 In the small village of Baigapara in Paradol Gram Panchayat, nestled in the Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur district of Chhattisgarh, a remarkable transformation has taken place. Once a village where residents struggled for every drop of water, the Jal Jeevan Mission has brought a ray of hope and self-reliance. This initiative has not only changed the life of Jhunnu Lal Baiga but has also uplifted the entire community.
Struggles of the Past
For years, Baigapara faced a severe water crisis. The absence of clean water sources forced villagers, especially women and children, to walk long distances to fetch water. This consumed a significant part of their day, leaving little time for other activities. The lack of clean water also led to frequent outbreaks of waterborne diseases, adversely affecting the health and livelihood of the residents.
A Path to Progress: Jal Jeevan Mission
Under the Jal Jeevan Mission, Baigapara has been transformed. The Har Ghar Nal-Jal Yojana has successfully achieved 100% Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTC) in the village, ensuring that every household now has access to clean drinking water through a dedicated pipeline.
Witnessing the Change: Jhunnu Lal Baiga’s Story
Jhunnu Lal Baiga, a villager who once spent hours fetching water, now enjoys the convenience of clean water flowing directly into his home.
“We no longer have to walk long distances for water or fear the diseases caused by unclean water. This scheme has saved us time and improved our lives,” he shared, expressing his gratitude.
A Model Village Emerges
The Jal Jeevan Mission has done more than just solve Baigapara’s water crisis. It has brought about profound changes in the villagers’ lives:
- Education: With time saved from fetching water, children can now focus on their studies.
- Empowerment: Women are becoming more self-reliant, utilizing their time for productive activities.
- Health: Access to clean water has significantly reduced the prevalence of waterborne diseases.
Today, Baigapara stands as an ideal village, inspiring neighboring communities to embrace similar transformations.
Gratitude to Leadership
Jhunnu Lal Baiga expressed heartfelt thanks to Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai for this initiative.
“The Chief Minister’s efforts are a blessing for us. This scheme has empowered and made our village self-reliant. We are deeply grateful,” he said.
A Testament to Vision and Dedication
The success of the Jal Jeevan Mission in Baigapara demonstrates that with the right plans and dedicated efforts, rural India can become self-reliant, healthy, and prosperous. Villagers like Jhunnu Lal Baiga are now looking forward to exploring new opportunities to further improve their lives, setting an example for others to follow.
