Raipur, December 11, 2024: Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for ₹254 crore worth of development projects in Pakhanjur, Kanker district, signaling a new era of growth for the Bastar region. The event was marked by announcements of significant initiatives, including road upgrades, library construction, and a sports complex.


Key Announcements and Inaugurations

  1. Road and Infrastructure Development:
    • Strengthening of the Pakhanjur-Myapur road with an allocation of ₹8.78 crore.
    • Construction of a sports complex worth ₹2 crore.
    • Repairs for the civil hospital with ₹30 lakh.
    • Announcement of a Nalanda Campus Library, aimed at enhancing educational resources in the area.
  2. Commemorative Tribute:
    • CM Sai unveiled a statue of Late Asim Roy, former Chairman of the Nagar Panchayat, acknowledging his contributions to the region.
  3. Development Projects Overview:
    • In total, 68 projects worth ₹254.15 crore were inaugurated or initiated, including:
      • ₹215.41 crore for 43 projects in the foundation stone-laying phase.
      • ₹38.74 crore for 25 completed projects.

Focus on Inclusive Development

Speaking at the event, CM Sai emphasized the government’s commitment to fulfilling its promises within just one year of assuming office.

  • Key Achievements:
    • Immediate disbursement of funds to farmers under the PM Housing Scheme during Good Governance Day on December 25, shortly after the government was formed.
    • Increase in tendu leaf collectors’ wages from ₹4,000 to ₹5,500 per standard bag, benefiting the tribal community.
  • Bastar-Centric Initiatives:
    • Expansion of basic amenities such as roads, schools, drinking water, housing, and electricity under the Niyad Nellanar Scheme.
    • Special programs like the PM Janman Yojana, focusing on the welfare of Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs).
    • Introduction of a new industrial policy to boost business and entrepreneurship across the state.

Progress in Governance and Welfare

Underlining the administration’s achievements, CM Sai highlighted that the government is working relentlessly to uplift all sections of society:

  • Economic Welfare for Women:
    • Mahatari Vandan Yojana: Benefiting 70 lakh women, with each receiving ₹1,000 per month.
  • Housing for All:
    • Significant progress under the PM Housing Scheme, with a continuous rollout of new approvals and construction.
  • Strengthening Law and Accountability:
    • Crackdown on corruption, including CBI actions against irregularities in state PSC exams.

Leaders’ Support and Vision

Deputy CM Arun Saw lauded the Sai government for its impactful governance in the past year. He acknowledged the successful implementation of policies aimed at farmers, women, and the general public. Endorsing the CM’s vision, he added, “The development initiatives are a step toward making Bastar a hub of progress.”
