Forest Department Officials Share Best Practices for Wildlife Protection

A collaborative effort between Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh has emphasized the need for adopting a “landscape approach” to conserve elephants and tigers effectively. This approach focuses on safeguarding their habitats while mitigating the growing threats to their natural environments.
Under the guidance of Forest Minister Shri Kedar Kashyap, the Forest Department recently organized a one-day interstate conference in Raipur. Senior forest officials from both states participated in the event, aimed at discussing the best practices and coordination strategies for the conservation of elephants and tigers.
During the conference, officials from both states agreed to undertake joint efforts for wildlife conservation. It was decided that mutual exchange of the best conservation practices would be encouraged to ensure the safety of wildlife habitats. Both Forest Departments emphasized maintaining continuous coordination to work towards the sustainable preservation of elephants and tigers.
The conference witnessed the presence of senior officials, including Madhya Pradesh’s Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife) Shri Shubh Ranjan Sen, Chhattisgarh’s Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife) Shri Sudhir Kumar Agrawal, and Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Shri Prem Kumar. Representatives from key tiger reserves like Bandhavgarh, Kanha, and Sanjay Gandhi Tiger Reserve in Madhya Pradesh, along with forest officers from tiger reserves, Bilaspur, and Surguja forest divisions of Chhattisgarh, also attended.
This landmark event marks a significant step towards fostering collaboration between the two states for the preservation of these majestic species. The focus remains on creating a unified strategy to protect and restore critical wildlife habitats while promoting long-term sustainability in conservation efforts.
