Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav stated that this year, due to excessive rainfall and floods, farmers suffered significant crop losses. Yellow mosaic disease and pest infestations also added to their troubles. Heavy rains further caused loss of life, livestock, and property damage, bringing hardship to the farming community. In such difficult circumstances, the government has ensured that farmers receive complete support without any shortage.
Dr. Yadav informed that more than 23.81 lakh affected farmers across the state, struggling with crop and property damage due to excessive rainfall, floods, and pest attacks, have been provided with relief assistance amounting to approximately 1,802 crore rupees so far. He added that this relief amount, distributed under RBC 6(4), has greatly helped farmers recover and get back on their feet. The Chief Minister pointed out that this amount is nearly three times higher than the 660.57 crore rupees distributed as relief in the previous financial year 2024 25.
Dr. Yadav emphasized that there is no shortage of funds in the state treasury for the welfare of farmers, who are the true providers of food. Every farmer in need is receiving timely support, assistance, and encouragement from the government. He mentioned that relief amounts of 1,590.74 crore rupees, 726.15 crore rupees, and 758.62 crore rupees were distributed during the financial years 2021 22, 2022 23, and 2023 24 respectively.
The Chief Minister further informed that 1,623.51 crore rupees has been provided as relief to 23,81,104 affected farmers for crop losses caused by excessive rainfall, floods, yellow mosaic disease, and pest infestations. In addition, 178.45 crore rupees has been distributed as relief for various damages resulting from natural disasters. Altogether, around 1,802 crore rupees has been disbursed to farmers across the state who were affected by these calamities.
Dr. Yadav reiterated that whether it is excessive rainfall, floods, pest attacks, or any other natural disaster, farmers face risks to their crops every season. When crops fail, the household economy collapses. Our government will never let farmers face such situations alone. He stated that the government stands firmly with farmers in every difficulty. The pain of farmers is the pain of the entire state, and their prosperity is the prosperity of Madhya Pradesh,” he said.
The Chief Minister added that the government has taken all possible steps for the welfare of farmers, including ensuring adequate water for irrigation, continuous power supply, zero interest loans, minimum support prices for crops, and timely transfer of crop insurance benefits. These measures have instilled new confidence and hope among the farmers of the state.
