Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the dream of a developed India is becoming a reality. A key pillar of this vision is the healthcare sector, as a healthy nation forms the foundation of a prosperous and powerful one. With innovations, technological advancements, and quality improvements, India’s healthcare system is scaling new heights globally. Following this vision, Madhya Pradesh, under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, has achieved unprecedented progress in public health and medical education.


Unprecedented Expansion in Medical Education

Madhya Pradesh had just five government medical colleges in 2003. Today, the number has increased to 17 operational colleges. Three new medical colleges in Neemuch, Mandsaur, and Seoni were recently opened by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Plans are underway to establish eight additional government medical colleges and 12 colleges under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model in the next two years. The state government remains committed to ensuring one medical college in every district, striving tirelessly toward this goal.


Revolutionary Initiatives in Healthcare Services

Under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, several landmark initiatives have strengthened healthcare services in the state:

  • The establishment of the state’s first Medcity in Ujjain, with an allocation of ₹592.30 crore.
  • Approval for 13 government nursing colleges.
  • Creation of 46,491 new positions in health institutions to address staffing needs and boost employment.
  • Conducting long-pending exams for one lakh nursing students, paving the way for their professional futures.

Ayushman Bharat and Air Ambulance Services

The state has made significant strides in providing accessible healthcare under the Ayushman Bharat Scheme, initiated by Prime Minister Modi:

  • Issuance of 4.02 crore Ayushman cards.
  • Over ₹5599 crore disbursed under the scheme to beneficiaries.
  • Launch of Air Ambulance Services (including helicopters and fixed-wing planes) to ensure timely critical care for serious patients and accident victims, both within the state and beyond.

Technological Advancements and Specialized Care

Madhya Pradesh is modernising healthcare services by utilising technology.

  • Introduction of CAR-T Cell Therapy for blood cancer patients at MY Hospital, Indore, making it the first government hospital in India to offer this treatment.
  • Establishment of a 30-bed cardiac catheterization lab at Jay Prakash Hospital, Bhopal, for advanced heart care.
  • Installation of MRI machines in five divisional headquarters (Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, Gwalior, and Ujjain) to improve diagnostic capabilities.
  • Deployment of 74 mobile medical units to provide healthcare services in remote areas under the PM-Janman Campaign.

Special efforts have been made for maternal and child health:

  • Free sonography services in districts lacking facilities, under the Janani Shishu Suraksha Yojana.
  • Establishment of the State Neonatal and Pediatric Resource Center at Gandhi Medical College, Bhopal.
  • Vaccination initiatives to protect adult sickle cell anemia patients from severe infections, with Madhya Pradesh ranking second nationally in screening for the disease.

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav’s foresight and dedication have positioned Madhya Pradesh as a pioneer in healthcare services.
