Ujjain, November , 2024 – Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav inaugurated the groundbreaking ceremony for Ujjain’s Medicity and Government Medical College, a ₹592.30 crore project. This ambitious initiative is slated for completion before Simhastha 2028, transforming Ujjain into a hub for advanced healthcare under the divine aegis of Mahakal.

Highlighting the development, CM Yadav stated, “With the support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, this state-of-the-art Medicity will offer unparalleled healthcare services. Ujjain will soon become a globally renowned destination for medical excellence and tourism.”

Medicity Highlights

The Medicity, spanning 14.97 acres, will feature:

  • High-rise infrastructure: Six towers, including a nine-story teaching hospital and an eight-story medical college.
  • Student and staff facilities: Residences, nursing hostels, service blocks, and recreation spaces.
  • Modern amenities: Research and development units, a 550-bed hospital, and capacity for 150 medical students annually.
  • Sustainability features: Solar power, rainwater harvesting, and energy-efficient systems.

Transforming Healthcare in Madhya Pradesh

The CM emphasized the state’s progress in medical education. With only five medical colleges in 2003, Madhya Pradesh now boasts 30 institutions, including 17 government-run colleges. Twelve additional medical colleges are expected to launch next year.

Dr. Yadav also announced initiatives to integrate healthcare and education sectors, improve public health services, and enhance paramedical and nursing education in all state universities, creating more job opportunities.

Medical Tourism and Advanced Facilities

Plans are underway to establish Ujjain as a hub for medical tourism, attracting patients from across India and abroad. The Medicity will include an Ayurvedic medical college modeled after AIIMS and a new homoeopathy college.

Innovative Healthcare Solutions

Dr. Yadav praised the Ayushman Bharat Nirman scheme, which has introduced airlifting services for critically ill patients in remote areas. The government aims to double the capacity of medical education to train 10,000 students and expand Ayurveda institutions.

Community Welfare Initiatives

During the event, Dr. Yadav distributed benefits under various government schemes, including:

  • Incentives for personal toilet construction.
  • Financial assistance under Ayushman Bharat for medical treatment.
  • Funding for “pink toilets” to promote sanitation.

The CM also announced the construction of a new Collectorate office near Madhav Nagar Police Station and provisioned hearse vehicles for hospitals across the state.

A Grand Event

The program commenced with traditional rituals, including prayers to Lord Dhanvantari. CM Yadav, adorned in a Malvi turban, received a warm welcome from the gathering with flower showers. Various dignitaries, including Deputy CM Rajendra Shukla and MPs Anil Firojiya and Balayogi Umesh Nath Maharaj, addressed the audience.

Ujjain’s Medicity represents a significant milestone for healthcare in Madhya Pradesh, reflecting the state’s commitment to leveraging modern technology and collaborative efforts for public welfare.
