The Patel family, led by Sadar Patel and his wife Sukhbati Patel, consists of two sons and their families. Their extended household includes their younger brother, Ramkumar Patel, and his family.

By pooling the monthly assistance of ₹1,000 per eligible woman in the family, the Patels now generate an additional income of ₹6,000 per month. Over five years, this will amount to ₹3.60 lakh, which will be instrumental in improving their quality of life.
The women shared their optimism: “Mahatari Vandan Scheme has empowered us to plan better for our children’s future. We are confident that this initiative will continue to benefit families like ours.”
A Transformative Initiative for Women’s Empowerment
Launched on March 1, 2024, by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Mahatari Vandan Scheme aims to improve women’s health, nutrition, and economic independence. It provides ₹1,000 monthly financial assistance to eligible married women aged 21 years and above.
To date, ₹5,878 crore has been disbursed to over 70 lakh women across Chhattisgarh under this scheme.
