Bhopal, Sunday, February 9, 2025: Madhya Pradesh is rapidly establishing itself as a powerhouse in the textile and apparel industry, according to Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav. The state’s agricultural strength, traditional weaving heritage, modern industrial framework, and pro-investment policies have made it a prime destination for textile businesses. With its expanding infrastructure and favorable economic climate, the state is on track to become one of India’s leading textile and garment hubs. The Global Investors Summit 2025 will further highlight these opportunities to potential investors worldwide.

Building a Complete Textile Ecosystem: From Cotton Fields to Global Exports

Madhya Pradesh is not just producing textiles; it is developing a full-scale value chain encompassing raw material cultivation, fabric manufacturing, garment production, and international trade. The state is a major player in organic cotton production, contributing 43% to India’s total output and 24% globally. This not only boosts the economy but also strengthens Madhya Pradesh’s position as a sustainable and high-quality textile manufacturing hub.

Strength in Cotton, Silk, and Advanced Fibers

Madhya Pradesh is a front-runner in cotton production and is expanding its silk industry, generating over 200 tons of silk annually. This supports both traditional handloom artisans and modern textile manufacturers. Additionally, the state is making strides in technical textiles and synthetic fiber production, essential for high-performance and specialty fabric applications.

Dr. Yadav highlighted the ambitious PM Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel (MITRA) Park in Dhar district, spanning 2,100 acres. This park will offer world-class facilities to textile and garment manufacturers, positioning the state as a global textile investment destination.

Fusion of Heritage and Modern Innovation in Textiles

Madhya Pradesh’s textile legacy extends beyond large-scale industries to its rich handloom traditions. The state is renowned for Chanderi, Maheshwari, Bagh prints, Batik prints, and Zari-Zardozi craftsmanship. These heritage textiles have received Geographical Indication (GI) tags, enhancing their authenticity and market value.

Key statistics of the state’s textile industry:
✅ 60+ major textile mills
✅ 4,000+ operational looms
✅ 25 lakh spinning spindles
✅ Emerging textile hubs in Indore, Bhopal, Ujjain, Dhar, Dewas, Gwalior, Chhindwara, and Jabalpur

Indore’s readymade garment cluster, with over 1,200 units, has become a leading apparel manufacturing hub. Additionally, the presence of an Apparel Design Center and a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) gives industries a competitive edge in the global market.

Government’s Strategic Push for Textile Industry Growth

To attract investment, the government is introducing lucrative incentives:
✔ Lowest electricity and water tariffs for industries
✔ GST exemptions, tax benefits, and customized financial incentives
✔ Specialized investment schemes for textile manufacturers

Madhya Pradesh has become the first Indian state to attract ₹3,513 crore in textile investments under the Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme, reinforcing its commitment to industrial expansion.

A Preferred Choice for Global Textile Giants

Several leading textile brands have already established a strong presence in Madhya Pradesh, including:
📌 Trident Group
📌 Raymond
📌 Aditya Birla Group
📌 Vardhman Textiles
📌 Gokaldas Exports
📌 Sagar Group
📌 Nahar Spinning Mills
📌 AVGOL, Indorama, and Bhaskar Textiles

The continued expansion of these corporations demonstrates the state’s business-friendly environment, making it a preferred investment hub for the textile sector.

Global Investors Summit 2025: Unlocking New Opportunities

The upcoming Global Investors Summit (GIS) 2025 will serve as a catalyst for industrial transformation, bringing together international investors, business leaders, and policymakers to explore investment avenues in Madhya Pradesh. By integrating its historical textile expertise with modern innovations, the state is positioning itself as a global leader in the textile sector.

From Local Fabrics to Global Fashion – MP’s Vision for the Future

Dr. Yadav reiterated the state’s “Farm to Fabric, Fabric to Factory, Factory to Fashion, and Fashion to Foreign Markets” strategy. This visionary approach ensures that Madhya Pradesh’s textile industry remains competitive on a global scale.

The state government remains committed to supporting investors and businesses, ensuring that Madhya Pradesh becomes a world-class textile hub.
