Raipur, December 27, 2024: Jashpur district is rapidly transforming into a prominent center for adventure tourism, not only in Chhattisgarh but also gaining recognition internationally. Under the visionary guidance of Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai, this region has become a symbol of innovative tourism initiatives.
In a recent development, students from Career Point World School, Bilaspur, participated in a five-day outdoor workshop from December 23 to 27, 2024, at the Desh Dekha Climbing Sector in Jashpur. The trip offered an exciting blend of rock climbing, camping, hiking, and agro-tourism activities. These hands-on experiences aimed to bring students closer to nature while fostering leadership, teamwork, and self-reliance skills.
During the workshop, students had the unique opportunity to engage with local tribal entrepreneurs and learn about their natural products. They also relished traditional delicacies prepared under the Jashpure brand and gained valuable insights into environmental conservation and cleanliness from local guides.
The Desh Dekha Climbing Sector is part of the Chhattisgarh Climbing Initiative, supported by organizations like Ghoomantu Tours and Jashpure. This initiative aims to introduce youth to adventure activities as both a recreational pursuit and a potential career option.
Beyond its impact on tourism, the initiative has also created economic opportunities for local communities. According to committee chairman Mr. Vipin, the climbing sector has provided income sources for local women, who now sell leaf plates and cups, while the village earns additional revenue through permit fees.
This innovative approach to tourism development not only showcases the natural beauty and cultural richness of Jashpur but also empowers local residents, making it a win-win model for sustainable development. Students returned from the trip with unforgettable memories, new skills, and a greater appreciation for the environment.
Jashpur’s emergence as an adventure tourism hub marks a promising step forward, setting an example for eco-friendly and community-driven tourism initiatives in the state.
