— It’s a Symbol of His Father’s Love and Blessings
Ambikapur, December 4, 2024
A house is more than just a structure for most people — it is a place of belonging, safety, and memories. But for Chandan Singh, his Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) house holds a far deeper emotional connection. It’s not merely a cemented shelter; it’s a testament to his late father’s love, dreams, and blessings that continue to shelter his family.
Chandan’s father, Devanath Ram, a resident of Khutiya village in the Lakhanpur block, always dreamed of living in a proper home with his family. In the 2024-25 financial year, he was granted assistance under PMAY to construct a pucca house. The government provided a total of ₹1.20 lakh for the construction.
A Dream Fulfilled, But Too Late
Chandan recalls their struggles in their old, mud-and-thatch house, which was prone to many issues:
- The walls and roof required constant maintenance.
- Rainy seasons brought dampness, increasing illnesses among children.
- Cleanliness was a constant challenge.
The poor living conditions also took a toll on Devanath’s health. When he learned about the PMAY scheme, he immediately applied for assistance, and the funds were approved. With the aid of the government, Devanath began building a pucca house, finally fulfilling his lifelong dream.
However, tragedy struck as Devanath passed away shortly after the house was completed. Though he didn’t live long to enjoy it, his son Chandan sees the house as his father’s enduring blessing and legacy.
A New Beginning with Fond Memories
Chandan expresses his gratitude:
“This house is not just bricks and cement; it’s my father’s dream come true. Though he is no longer with us, his blessings are alive in this home. Today, our family lives here surrounded by his memories, and this gives us immense comfort.”
Living in the new home has brought many changes to the family’s life. The house is not only stronger and more hygienic but also symbolizes dignity and stability for the family.
Impact of the PMAY Scheme
The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana has transformed the lives of countless families like Chandan’s by providing them with clean, safe, and sturdy homes. It is not just a scheme to construct houses; it is a beacon of hope, enabling families to live with dignity and security.
For Chandan, this house will forever be more than just a shelter — it will remain a lasting tribute to his father’s hard work, love, and dream of a better life for his family.
