Gaurela Pendra Marwahi, December 12, 2024: Under the ambitious Jal Jeevan Mission, Dandjamdi Panchayat in the aspirational block of Gaurela has reached a significant milestone. All 90 households in the village now have access to clean drinking water through tap connections, marking a transformative step in rural infrastructure and public health.
Tap Water in Every Home: A Dream Fulfilled
The villagers of Dandjamdi are celebrating as they no longer need to fetch water from distant wells. Lalita Wakre, a resident, expressed her joy, saying, “Having water directly from a tap at home has brought immense relief. It has saved us both time and effort.”
The initiative has not only ensured convenience but has also improved hygiene and access to potable water, significantly enhancing the quality of life for the residents.
Empowering the Local Community
As part of the mission’s sustainable implementation, the responsibility for operation and maintenance of the water system has been handed over to the Gram Panchayat. Key stakeholders, including:
- Sarpanch Injor Singh Dhurve
- Panchayat Secretary Ratan Singh
- Members of the Village Water and Sanitation Committee (VWSC)
have been trained in essential aspects such as:
- Water management
- Water conservation
- Rainwater harvesting
- Optimal utilization of water resources
This training ensures that the community takes ownership of the project and maintains its functionality for years to come.
About the Jal Jeevan Mission
