Raipur, November 25, 2024: The Har Ghar Nal Se Jal scheme, launched by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi to provide clean drinking water to every household, is now benefitting tribal families living in the forest areas of Chhattisgarh. In the tribal-majority villages of Korba district, tap water is now being delivered to every home in 12 villages.

Residents like Mrs. Neeta Pando from Durgapara village and other women shared their experiences. They explained that in the past, they had to walk almost 2 kilometers daily through dense forests and rough roads to fetch water from distant sources like Katkahiya Nala and Ketki Jharya. With no handpumps in the village, they faced immense hardship in collecting water. However, the installation of water taps in their homes has resolved this issue, offering convenience and easy access to water.

They also mentioned the health challenges they faced due to contaminated water from the nearby streams, leading to ailments like diarrhea and vomiting. Often, they had to visit hospitals for treatment. But now, with access to clean and safe drinking water at home, these health issues have reduced, and the families are much healthier.

The Korba district administration has taken special efforts to implement the Nal Jal Yojana in these tribal areas. Under this initiative, over 1400 homes in villages like Surmi, Dakaipara, Kheiri, Sorga, Durgapara, Jagdishpur, Vikrampur, Kanton, Odgi, Harriidih, Amhar, and Khoder now receive clean drinking water. This scheme is significantly improving the living conditions and health of these tribal communities.
