Bhopal, Tuesday, December 17, 2024, The renowned historic town of Chanderi is set to launch the “Chanderi Eco Retreat” starting from December 18. The retreat will offer an exciting mix of adventure, folk art, cultural activities, and luxury glamping experiences. Shri Dharmendra Bhav Singh Lodhi, Minister of State for Tourism, Culture, and Religious Endowments, announced that the initiative aims to bring Chanderi to the forefront of tourism and showcase the town’s rich heritage, natural beauty, and historical sites. The Chanderi Eco Retreat is expected to not only provide employment and benefits to local artisans and businesses but also turn Chanderi into a major tourist attraction, drawing visitors both from within the country and abroad.
Shri Shiv Shekhar Shukla, Principal Secretary of Tourism and Culture and Managing Director of the Tourism Board, shared that in the second edition of the Chanderi Eco Retreat, an initiative has been launched to create a “Selfie Point” at popular film locations from the blockbuster film “Stree”. Tourists will be able to visit these filming spots and take selfies. Alongside, there will be an art and craft market based on local art, a food festival to taste local delicacies, cultural performances, and adventurous activities, promising visitors an unforgettable experience.
With the collaboration of the district administration of Ashoknagar and Sunset Desert Camp, the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board has established an All-Season Tent City for tourists to enjoy luxury glamping. A Heritage Walk will also be organized to offer an in-depth exploration of Chanderi’s history, including its ancient forts, palaces, and mosques. Additionally, an in-house hospitality team will be available to assist and guide visitors through their Chanderi journey.
Explore “Pranpur” – India’s First Craft Handloom Tourism Village and Buy Chanderi Sarees
During the Chanderi Eco Retreat, visitors will have the opportunity to explore Pranpur, India’s first Craft Handloom Tourism Village. Pranpur is renowned for its traditional weaving of Chanderi Sarees. Visitors can not only purchase these world-famous sarees but also watch the weaving process firsthand. Moreover, they can enjoy delicious food at the handloom cafes, run by local women, offering a unique dining experience in charming surroundings.
To preserve the art of weaving and crafts while providing opportunities for training and market access, the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board has developed the Craft Handloom Tourism Village in Pranpur, located just 4 kilometers from Chanderi.
