Raipur, November 25, 2024 The Prime Minister Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme is making a significant impact by installing solar panels on rooftops of homes across the country, with the goal of reaching one crore households. The scheme is benefiting many in Balodabazar-Bhatapara district of Chhattisgarh, where not only is electricity being provided but also economic savings and environmental protection are being promoted.
One such beneficiary, Rishi Agarwal from Gokul Nagar in Bhatapara, shares that through the PM Surya Ghar Yojana, he is experiencing triple benefits. According to Rishi, his home is now powered by solar energy, which is both environmentally friendly and cost-effective. He no longer faces high electricity bills, and he feels proud of using clean energy without polluting the environment. Rishi expresses his gratitude to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai for this initiative. He encourages others to install solar panels under this scheme to contribute to environmental protection.
Under the scheme, households are receiving up to 300 units of free electricity per month. Additionally, beneficiaries are provided with subsidies of up to ₹78,000 and low-interest loans for the installation of solar systems. The initiative is also encouraging local urban bodies and panchayats to promote rooftop solar installations in their respective areas.
The scheme’s support for solar panel installations includes grants for beneficiaries based on the size of their solar plants and electricity consumption.
- For households with a solar capacity of 1 to 2 kW and an electricity consumption of 0-150 units, a subsidy of ₹30,000 to ₹60,000 is available.
- For those with a 2-3 kW system and 150-300 units of consumption, subsidies range from ₹60,000 to ₹78,000.
- Households with a 3 kW solar system and over 300 units of consumption are eligible for the maximum subsidy of ₹78,000.
Beneficiaries will receive these amounts directly in their bank accounts.
