Raipur, November 25, 2024 Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao participated in a mass wedding ceremony organized by the Women and Child Development Department at Mangal Bhavan in Lormi, Mungeli district. During the event, 14 couples tied the knot following traditional rituals. The Deputy CM congratulated the newlyweds, presented them with gifts, and handed over marriage certificates, wishing them a happy and prosperous married life.
A Blessing for Underprivileged Families
Addressing the gathering, Deputy CM Arun Sao lauded the Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah Yojana, describing it as a boon for daughters from economically weaker families. He emphasized that the scheme relieves families of financial burdens associated with marriage by providing ₹50,000 in support for each wedding.
Under the scheme:
- ₹8,000 is allocated for organizing the marriage ceremony.
- ₹7,000 is given for clothing, jewelry, footwear, bridal accessories, mangalsutra, and other essentials.
- ₹35,000 is disbursed through a bank draft to the bride.
All ceremonies adhere to traditional customs and rituals, ensuring a respectful and joyous occasion for the couples and their families.
Community Participation
The ceremony witnessed the participation of local public representatives, dignitaries, and administrative officials, reflecting strong community support for the initiative. The program highlighted the state government’s commitment to empowering underprivileged families and promoting social harmony through collective efforts.
Deputy CM Arun Sao expressed his hope that the scheme will continue to provide financial assistance and emotional support to countless families across the state, ensuring that no daughter’s marriage remains a burden for her parents.
