Dehradun, September 27, 2026: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami listened to the 138th episode of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s monthly radio programme ‘Mann Ki Baat’ at his official residence.
Dhami said the programme gives national recognition to the positive efforts, achievements and inspiring work of citizens while encouraging people to participate actively in nation-building.
Mana and Bagori Mentioned
The Chief Minister said it was a matter of pride for Uttarakhand that the Prime Minister specifically highlighted the state’s remote border areas during the programme.
Modi spoke about the first phase of the Census being conducted even in Uttarakhand’s difficult and snow-covered regions. He referred to Mana, in Chamoli district, described as the country’s first village, where the census began with 83-year-old Purnima Rawat.
He also mentioned Bagori village in Uttarkashi district, where homestay operator Hardev Singh Rana completed self-enumeration by entering his details digitally.
Dhami said highlighting villages such as Mana and Bagori reflects the changes taking place in Uttarakhand’s border regions, growing digital awareness and the active participation of residents in nation-building.
Appeal for Census Participation
The Prime Minister described the Census as a national responsibility and appealed to citizens to cooperate actively.
Dhami also urged residents of Uttarakhand to provide accurate information during the Census and fully support the national exercise.
Themes from the Programme
During the episode, Modi recalled the valour of the Indian Army and India’s firm policy against terrorism on the completion of ten years since the 2016 surgical strikes.
He also called for public participation in several areas, including:
- Cleanliness.
- Environmental protection.
- The campaign for a drug-free youth population.
- Encouragement for sporting talent.
- Nutrition.
- Local products.
- The “Vocal for Local” initiative.
Dhami said these issues are especially important for Uttarakhand. He urged residents to adopt the Prime Minister’s messages and contribute actively to the development of India and Uttarakhand.
MP Mala Rajya Laxmi Shah, other public representatives and officials from the Chief Minister’s Office attended the occasion.
