Aarti Sahu of Ranijaroud village in Baloda Bazar has shown how modern technology can create new opportunities for rural women. Through the Namo Drone Didi Scheme, she has transformed a drone into a source of income, confidence and independence.
For the past two years, Aarti has been spraying nano urea and nano DAP on farmers’ fields at a service charge of 300 Rupees per acre. Last year, she covered nearly 1,154 acres and earned around 3.5 lakh Rupees. Her work saves farmers time and labour while helping them access modern agricultural services close to home.
Aarti’s achievement challenges the outdated belief that advanced technology belongs only to cities or large enterprises. With proper training, financial support and guidance, women from villages can operate drones and become service providers in the agricultural economy.
The significance of her work goes beyond personal earnings. Drone based spraying can improve the efficiency of farm operations and reduce the physical burden on farmers. It also creates a new rural employment model in which women contribute directly to technology based agricultural development.
The success of the Namo Drone Didi initiative will depend on continued training, equipment maintenance, affordable access and steady demand for services. More women should be encouraged to enter this field, and local farmer groups should be connected with trained drone operators.
Aarti Sahu’s journey is a powerful example of how technology can change social and economic roles. Her drone is not merely flying over fields. It is carrying the aspirations of rural women towards greater dignity, income and self reliance.
