Dehradun, June 20, 2026: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Saturday transferred nearly Rs 11 crore through DBT to the bank accounts of more than 4,400 workers covered under various welfare schemes run by the Uttarakhand Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board. The assistance was disbursed at a programme held at the Chief Minister’s residence through a one click transfer system.
The beneficiaries received financial support under the board’s marriage assistance after marriage support, death grant, maternity assistance and education aid schemes. Dhami said the state government is committed to ensuring that welfare benefits reach eligible workers quickly, transparently and without unnecessary hurdles.
During the event, the chief minister directed the Labour Department to expand the outreach of worker welfare schemes and organize camps in different areas so that more eligible workers can access the benefits. He also instructed officials to ensure that essential material distribution facilities are arranged near workers’ workplaces, making it easier for them to receive support conveniently.
Dhami emphasized the need for special camps focused on health checkups for workers, education support for their dependent children and distribution of daily use items. He said all welfare schemes must be run with complete transparency and greater use of information technology so that only eligible workers receive assistance.
Officials informed the chief minister that over the past one year, the board has already distributed Rs 93.06 crore to 24,323 workers through different welfare programmes. The government said this reflects the scale of support being extended to the labour community in the state.
The event was attended by State Advisory Board member Kailash Pant, State Vigilance Committee Chairperson Geeta Rawat, Vice Chairperson Mohini Pokhriyal, Additional Secretary Vineet Kumar, Deputy Labour Commissioner Vipin Kumar, Assistant Labour Commissioner Shailesh Sati and Senior Technical Expert Durga Chamoli. Labour Commissioner Prakash Chandra Dumka conducted the programme.
