In Kondagaon district, the establishment of Atal Digital Centres in gram panchayat’s has brought banking and government services directly to the doorstep of rural residents. Officials say that these village level digital hubs have eliminated the need for long trips to town, saving both time and money for farming families and other villagers. The centres are now offering a wide range of services, including banking operations, electricity bill payments, DTH recharges, withdrawal of Mahatari Vandana scheme funds, labour card related services, use of Digi Pay to receive money from government schemes, and access to vehicle and health insurance facilities.
Thanks to this local presence, villagers now use these centres for secure, transparent and hassle free transactions. The district administration has tied up with Village Level Entrepreneurs in all 260 gram panchayat’s to expand the reach of digital services. To date, the Atal Digital Centres have recorded 2,78,083 transactions, with a total transaction value of 84 crore 23 lakh 23 thousand 76 Rupees. With an average of 136 transactions and around 4,10,889 Rupees per VLE per month, Kondagaon district has secured the top position among similar districts in the state.
This performance reflects growing confidence in digital services in rural areas. Locals no longer need to travel to the district headquarters for small routine tasks, which has significantly improved convenience and satisfaction. The district administration continues to strengthen this model, training more VLE’s and upgrading infrastructure so that an even larger number of people can benefit from assured, reliable and efficient digital governance at the village level.
