Sangeeta Singh from Dudhashi village in Manendragarh Chirimiri Bharatpur district exemplifies women’s self reliance through the Bihan scheme’s self help groups (SHG’s). Starting as a Banking Correspondent (BC Sakhi) in 2021, she leveraged a Rupees 68000, SHG loan to deliver doorstep banking, saving villagers time and travel costs to distant blocks or cities.

Building Trust Through Grassroots Banking

As BC Sakhi, Sangeeta bridged the financial access gap in remote tribal areas, handling deposits, withdrawals, and scheme benefits right in the village. Her dedication earned community trust despite initial hurdles, transforming banking from a distant chore into a local convenience. This model empowers rural women with dignified income while digitizing village economies under government skill initiatives.

Upgraded Role with Aadhaar Services

Recognizing her excellence, district authorities equipped Sangeeta with a laptop and Aadhaar kit to operate one of five new centers expanding services in tribal regions. EDM Narayan Kewart handed over the kit, enabling new enrollments, updates, and biometric verifications at her doorstep. Now villagers access these essentials without urban treks, amplifying Digital India’s last mile reach.

Inspiration for Rural Women

Sangeeta’s journey from modest beginnings to multifaceted service provider inspires peers, proving opportunity plus effort yields transformation. SHG’s provide low interest loans and training for ventures like farming, livestock, and tailoring alongside digital roles, fostering economic and social empowerment. Her story underscores how women’s inclusion drives community progress.

Broader Impact of Bihan and BC Sakhi

Bihan’s institutional framework connects poor households especially women to finance and livelihoods, reducing poverty through robust SHG’s. Initiatives like BC Sakhi schemes nationwide have trained lakhs, generating crores in transactions and sustainable earnings. Scaling such models with digital tools promises accelerated rural renaissance, positioning empowered women as Viksit Bharat’s vanguard.
