Solar Energy – A Step Towards Green, Sustainable Power

Korea, December 17, 2024: The PM Suryaghar Free Electricity Scheme, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is gaining significant traction in Korea district. The initiative aims to install solar rooftop panels on residential properties, reducing electricity bills and promoting energy self-reliance.

39 Registrations Completed; Over 2,000 Interested

The district has set a target of installing solar rooftop plants in 300 households. So far, 39 beneficiaries have successfully registered for the scheme, while over 2,000 individuals have expressed interest through the mobile app.

Beneficiaries Share Experiences

Residents such as Vishnu Patel from Baikunthpur-Talwapara and Mithilesh Kumar from Schoolpara have opted for 3-kilowatt and 2-kilowatt solar panels, respectively. Both beneficiaries expressed satisfaction, stating they learned about the scheme through newspapers and immediately contacted the electricity department. They emphasized how the initiative will not only reduce their electricity bills but also make them energy self-sufficient.

Subsidy Benefits

Under the scheme, the government provides financial support in the form of subsidies:

  • 60% subsidy for solar units up to 2 kilowatts.
  • 40% subsidy for systems between 2 and 3 kilowatts.
  • The maximum subsidy amount is capped at ₹78,000.

Registration Process

To avail the benefits, citizens must complete the online registration process. Once registered, beneficiaries are required to submit their bank account details and a canceled check. The subsidy process typically takes about 30 days to finalize.

Collector’s Appeal

District Collector Chandan Tripathi has urged residents to take advantage of the PM Suryaghar Free Electricity Scheme. She stated, “Solar energy is clean, green, and environment-friendly. By installing rooftop solar panels, families can access free electricity and even earn additional income by selling surplus power to the grid.”

The Collector also encouraged all electricity consumers to register on the scheme’s portal or mobile app and transform their homes into sustainable energy hubs, contributing towards environmental conservation and energy independence.
