Raipur, January , 2025: An irregularity in the sale of paddy at the Minimum Support Price (MSP) has come to light in Bilaspur district, prompting swift action by the authorities. A joint inspection team uncovered discrepancies, leading to the cancellation of an 82.20-quintal paddy token. Additionally, the concerned farmer’s registered landholding for paddy cultivation was removed from the farmer portal.
Following the Collector’s directives, strict monitoring is being enforced at paddy procurement centers across Bilaspur district to curb any fraudulent activities by middlemen or brokers. The District Food Officer reported that an unannounced inspection was carried out today by the Naib Tehsildar at the Mahmand Paddy Procurement Center in Bilaspur Tehsil.

During the inspection, an 82.20-quintal paddy token issued to a farmer registered with the Mahmand Cooperative Society was reviewed. However, no actual stock of paddy corresponding to the token was found at the site. Taking immediate action, the joint team canceled the token and had the concerned farmer surrender the registered landholding.
The administration has reiterated its commitment to maintaining transparency in the MSP procurement process. Authorities have warned that any attempt at fraud or manipulation will result in strict action against those involved.
