Government Committed to Doubling Farmers’ Income through Livestock Innovations
Chhattisgarh to Lead in Dairy Development under NDDB’s Guidance
Raipur, February 17, 2025: Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai has announced a significant initiative to strengthen Chhattisgarh’s dairy sector, highlighting its role in driving rural prosperity. Speaking at a meeting held at Mahanadi Bhavan, the Chief Minister affirmed that the state government is working towards building a robust dairy industry that mirrors the success of India’s White Revolution.
A comprehensive pilot project has been developed with the expertise of the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) to enhance milk production, empower dairy farmers, and make Chhattisgarh self-sufficient in dairy needs. The initiative, which begins with an investment of ₹5 crore, will initially focus on six districts, with plans for state-wide implementation based on its success.

Rural Growth through Dairy Development
Highlighting the importance of dairy farming, CM Sai emphasized that boosting milk production will directly benefit rural communities. The initiative is expected to provide stable incomes for farmers and increase employment opportunities in villages. He also stressed that improving milk availability and managing surplus dairy products would enhance the region’s nutritional standards, particularly for children and women.
The Chief Minister instructed officials to launch awareness campaigns for farmers and livestock owners, encouraging them to adopt modern techniques and practices to improve productivity.
Innovative Dairy Solutions with NDDB Partnership
During the meeting, NDDB Chairman Meenesh Shah provided insights into the current dairy landscape in Chhattisgarh, where daily milk production stands at 58 lakh kilograms. A detailed plan has been created to increase production, streamline marketing, and ensure quick financial returns for farmers.
To further support the industry, the state plans to establish biogas and bio-fertilizer units. These will not only provide an additional income stream to livestock owners but also contribute to environmental sustainability. Advanced tools for testing milk quality and providing immediate payments to dairy farmers will be introduced through cooperative societies.
Towards Self-Sufficiency in Milk Production
The Chief Minister expressed his determination to make Chhattisgarh a self-reliant state in dairy production. He emphasized that long-term strategies to improve livestock productivity, enhance breeding practices, and ensure animal health are already underway. These efforts are aimed at creating a sustainable framework for dairy growth in the state.
