Raipur, November 28, 2024 Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai announced a ₹147 crore Chitrotpala Film City to be developed in Chhattisgarh, providing a major boost to regional cinema, theatre, and tourism. This landmark project received approval and funding from the central government and was announced during the Chhattisgarhi Rajbhasha Diwas celebrations.


Chitrotpala Film City: A Hub for Cinema and Tourism

The film city is set to promote Chhattisgarhi films and theatrical arts, while also enhancing tourism in the state. With its establishment, regional content creators will have access to state-of-the-art facilities, which will further popularize Chhattisgarh’s rich cultural and artistic heritage.


Increased Honorarium for Padma Shri Awardees

During the event, CM Sai also announced an increase in the monthly honorarium for Padma Shri awardees from ₹5,000 to ₹10,000, acknowledging their contributions to the state’s legacy.


Key Initiatives for Chhattisgarhi Language Development

CM Sai emphasized the government’s continuous efforts to promote the Chhattisgarhi language, describing it as a “bonding language that connects hearts.” He highlighted the role of Chhattisgarhi films in popularizing the language and announced the revival of the Chhattisgarh Rajbhasha Commission as an independent entity, reversing its previous merger with the Sahitya Parishad.


Honoring Literary Figures and Cultural Contributions

The event also celebrated six prominent Chhattisgarhi authors, who were honored with shawls, mementos, and accolades for their contributions to the language. Additionally, 12 Chhattisgarhi-language books published by the Rajbhasha Commission were released.


Promoting Chhattisgarhi in Public Life

Addressing the gathering, MP Brijmohan Agrawal urged citizens to use Chhattisgarhi in their daily interactions and encouraged literary efforts in the language, such as novels and poetry. He also expressed his commitment to advocating for the inclusion of Chhattisgarhi in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution.

  • Training Initiatives: Over 2,700 officials and employees have been trained in Chhattisgarhi by the Rajbhasha Commission.
  • Publications: The Commission has published more than 1,400 books in the language.
  • Special Guests: Padma Shri awardees Dr. Surendra Dubey and Dr. Ramendra Nath Mishra attended the event as special guests.

The celebrations showcased the government’s resolve to preserve and promote Chhattisgarhi culture, language, and identity while driving regional development.
