Bhopal, January 3, 2025: Madhya Pradesh, under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, has achieved a historic milestone by becoming the leading state in mineral block auctions. With a record-breaking revenue collection of over ₹10,000 crore in the current financial year, the state has set a benchmark in leveraging its rich mineral wealth. This remarkable achievement is a result of innovative mining practices, efficient policies, and a commitment to sustainable development.

Historic Revenue Growth

In the financial year 2024-25, the state’s mineral revenue collection surpassed ₹10,000 crore for the first time, reflecting a significant 23% increase compared to the previous year. This sharp growth highlights the impact of robust mining policies and efficient management of resources.

Pioneering Mineral Block Auctions

Madhya Pradesh has emerged as the top state in India for auctioning mineral blocks, including critical and strategic minerals. As part of its commitment to reducing dependency on imports, the state has successfully auctioned several key minerals:

  • 8 Graphite Blocks
  • 6 Rock-Phosphate Blocks
  • 16 Manganese Blocks
  • 4 Gold Blocks
  • 1 Copper Block

Additionally, under India’s new Exploration Policy launched in 2024, Madhya Pradesh became the first state to put two critical mineral blocks up for auction, setting a national precedent.

Technological Advancements in Mining

The state is pioneering the use of technology to modernize the mining sector. To combat illegal mining, Madhya Pradesh has introduced 41 AI-enabled e-check gates. These gates, equipped with advanced cameras, RFID readers, and automatic number plate recognition systems, ensure real-time tracking and verification of vehicles involved in mineral transportation.

Furthermore, satellite-based monitoring and drone technology have been deployed to map and geo-tag mining areas. This innovation allows authorities to create 3D imagery of mining sites, accurately measure extracted volumes, and take swift action against illegal activities.

Sustainable Development with Mineral Revenues

Revenues generated from the mining sector are being reinvested into community development projects. Over 16,000 projects worth ₹4,406 crore have been approved to support essential sectors such as education, healthcare, women and child welfare, and clean drinking water. Of these, nearly 7,500 projects have already been completed.

Private Sector Partnerships Drive Growth

Madhya Pradesh’s progressive policies have attracted private sector investments in mining. At a recently held Mining Conclave in Bhopal, leading companies committed investments worth ₹20,000 crore to the state’s mining sector. Transparent auctions, local community engagement, and environmentally sustainable practices have positioned Madhya Pradesh as a model for other states.

Unique Mineral Riches of Madhya Pradesh

The state’s mineral wealth is unparalleled, featuring rare resources that set it apart nationally.

  • Diamonds: Madhya Pradesh is home to India’s only diamond mines, located in Panna, which produce over one lakh carats annually.
  • Copper and Manganese: The Malajkhand Copper Mine in Balaghat is India’s largest and accounts for 70% of the nation’s copper reserves.
  • Coal: The state is the fourth-largest coal producer in the country, with significant reserves in Singrauli and Shahdol.

Building a Sustainable Future

By integrating innovation, sustainability, and community involvement, Madhya Pradesh is setting an example for mining practices in India. With its focus on economic growth and environmental stewardship, the state is paving the way to becoming the nation’s undisputed mining capital.
