Farmers across the Kanker district eagerly gathered at procurement centers, where the traditional rituals, including weighing scale blessings and other auspicious ceremonies, took place. This increased rate has brought a renewed sense of happiness and satisfaction among farmers, who feel truly valued for their hard work.

Farmers expressed their gratitude for this historic rate, with many calling it the first true recognition of their efforts. At the Charama market yard, 58-year-old farmer Rajendra Sahu from Jesakarra village expressed pride, saying that the government’s decision to pay ₹3,100 per quintal is a meaningful honor for “the sons of the soil.” Similarly, Jagdish Ram Sahu, a young farmer from Dallidih, shared his excitement about selling 25 quintals of paddy on the first day and plans to use the earnings for field improvements. At the Korar center, Bhanupratappur farmer Sonasay, who brought 95 sacks of paddy from his 6-acre field, expressed that receiving ₹3,100 per quintal was like a dream come true. Farmers like Puran Singh Nayak, Ramcharan Kunjam, and Sumitra Sahu also praised the government’s effort, considering it a transformative step for the agricultural community.

In Kanker’s Markatola Lamps, 59-year-old farmer Kansalal Rawate shared his appreciation, saying that his 13-acre harvest sold at this rate will provide substantial support for his future plans. Farmers from Kanker’s Bardevri, like senior farmer Brijlal Kawachi, were equally grateful, applauding the government’s unprecedented decision to procure paddy at such a rate. With District Collector Nilesh Mahadev Kshirsagar overseeing the arrangements, all 149 paddy procurement centers in Kanker district began operations today. Following ritual blessings of weighing equipment and tools, centers were equipped with weighing machines, scales, and jute bags, ensuring a smooth procurement process.
