## Transformative Budget 2025-26: A Milestone for Growth and Welfare – Animal Husbandry Minister Mr. Patel

### Record Budget Allocation for Animal Husbandry: ₹2,480 Crore

Bhopal, March 12, 2025.

The Minister of Animal Husbandry, Independent Charge, Mr. Lakhan Patel, stated that the budget for the financial year 2025-26, presented by Deputy Chief Minister (Finance) Mr. Jagdish Deora under the leadership of Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, will open new avenues of development and prove to be immensely significant for the welfare of all sections of society. The budget has seen an approximate 15% increase compared to the previous year. The budget estimate for the Animal Husbandry Department for the fiscal year 2024-25 was ₹2,149.92 Crore, which has now been increased to ₹2,480.98 Crore for the financial year 2025-26.

Strategic Budget Allocation for Key Projects

According to Minister Mr. Patel, this year’s budget includes allocations for various significant projects under the Animal Husbandry Department. Intensive Animal Development Projects have been allocated ₹858 Crore, while ₹505 Crore has been earmarked for Cow Conservation and Animal Promotion. The Chief Minister Animal Husbandry Development Scheme will receive ₹200 Crore, and the Chief Minister Cooperative Milk Producer Incentive Scheme has been allocated ₹180 Crore. Additionally, ₹117 Crore has been allocated for the Cow Sanctuary Research & Production Centre, ₹94 Crore for the Prevention of Major Animal Diseases, ₹83 Crore for Mobile Animal Welfare Services, and ₹78 Crore as grants for the Veterinary Science University in Jabalpur. Moreover, ₹56 Crore has been allocated for district and divisional-level programs.

Driving Economic Growth Through Animal Husbandry

Mr. Patel emphasized the significant role of animal husbandry in the state’s economy and socio-economic development. The “Chief Minister Dairy Development Scheme” has been launched for the welfare of milk producers. As part of this scheme, an agreement has been made with the National Dairy Development Board for the management and operation of the Madhya Pradesh State Co-operative Dairy Federation and affiliated milk unions. This agreement is expected to boost the number of milk cooperative societies, enhance milk collection, and strengthen the Sanchi brand. To promote milk production and collection, an incentive of ₹5 per liter will be provided under the scheme, for which a provision of ₹50 Crore has been proposed.

Madhya Pradesh Leading the Nation in Animal Insemination

The Minister also highlighted that Madhya Pradesh ranks first in the nationwide Animal Artificial Insemination Program. The Sex-Sorted Semen Laboratory has produced 7.5 lakh doses. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Yadav, a policy is being prepared to establish large-scale self-reliant cowsheds across the state. Approximately 2,200 cowsheds are currently operating in the state, housing more than 3.45 lakh cattle. The daily allocation for cattle feed per animal is being doubled from ₹20 to ₹40. The “Cow Conservation and Animal Promotion Scheme” has been proposed with a budget of ₹505 Crore.
